Lovely Weather… For Ducks!

Hi everybody

After successfully selling an oil painting at the exhibition last year of a rainy scene with lots of reflections, I thought it was high time that I painted another. This time it’s in watercolour. Painted on my favourite Arches paper, it’s a rainy evening scene, I have a few more photo’s with a similar theme that I’ll be painting soon, possibly in acrylic.

Bude Art Society Easter exhibition

Hi everybody

Tomorrow (Friday 19th April) is the start of the Bude Art Society Easter Exhibition which is taking place at the Tourist Information Centre, The Crescent, Bude. It runs until close of play on Monday 22nd April. Opening times are 10am to 5pm. If you are in the area why not pay a visit? I’ll be stewarding on Monday morning and I might even be painting!

Here’s what I’m submitting this year:

I am hoping to stage my own exhibition at Bude Castle next year, but that’s a blog for another day.

Introducing ‘The Poser’…

Hi everybody

Whilst trawling through Pinterest yesterday, looking for inspiration, I came across this beautiful specimen. I knew then that I had to paint it. I usually use pastels for any animal studies that I paint because you can get amazing fur effects by blending. However, I decided to capture this beastie with watercolour. So an afternoon session at the Art Club produced this. It’s titled ‘The Poser’. Hope you like it.
